The TP-Link Omada OC400 is a rack-mountable Omada hardware controller that TP-Link rate for up to 1,000 Omada access points, 200 Omada switches, 100 Omada routers and 30,000 clients. It has two 10G SFP+ ports, four gigabit RJ45 ports, two USB 3.0 ports and a console port, a quad-core CPU with 8 GB DDR4 and 32 GB eMMC, and two internal power supplies for redundancy.

What the OC400 is for

It is the on-premises Omada controller for large sites, campuses, hotels and managed service providers: one always-on box that keeps network management local, with cloud access and the Omada app for remote use and no PC or server to keep running. Its 10G SFP+ ports connect straight to a core switch such as the SX3008F.

What you will need

1U of rack space (rackmount kit included), a mains socket (two for supply redundancy), and a network link to your Omada devices: an SFP+ module or DAC cable such as the SM5220-1M for a 10G connection, or network cable for the gigabit ports.

How many devices can the OC400 manage?

TP-Link list up to 1,000 Omada access points, 200 Omada switches and 100 Omada routers, and up to 30,000 clients. TP-Link publish the list of supported models.

OC400 or OC300?

The OC300 is rated for 500 access points and has gigabit ports. The OC400 doubles the access point count, adds 10G SFP+ ports and has two internal power supplies.

Do I need a hardware controller at all?

Not always. TP-Link also offer the free Omada Software Controller and Omada Central cloud. A hardware controller suits sites that want an always-on local controller without running a PC or server.

Is the OC400 PoE powered?

No. It runs from mains (100–240 V) and has two internal power supplies.

How quickly can I get it?

We ship nationally from our multi-million pound warehouse, with orders leaving daily. Orders placed before 2:30pm are normally dispatched for delivery within 1–2 working days to England, Scotland and Wales. You can also collect in store from our trade counter — call first so we can confirm your order is ready. We do not ship to Northern Ireland.
