TD-W9960 — TP-Link 300Mbps Wireless N VDSL/ADSL Modem Router
The TP-Link TD-W9960 is a 300 Mbps Wi-Fi VDSL/ADSL modem router with a built-in VDSL2 modem (G.993.5 G.vector, G.998.4 G.INP). It has 2.4 GHz 802.11n Wi-Fi with two fixed 5 dBi omni antennas, three 10/100 Mbps LAN ports, one 10/100 Mbps LAN/WAN port and an RJ11 port.
What the TD-W9960 is for
It connects directly to a phone-line broadband service and can replace an ISP router on FTTC/VDSL or ADSL lines; the LAN/WAN port also lets it run behind a cable or fibre modem. For whole-home Wi-Fi add Deco mesh Wi-Fi in access point mode or an RE200 extender. Browse more in data networking.

Your broadband username and password (or VLAN details) from your ISP, and a master socket or filter for the phone line.

Does the TD-W9960 work on UK fibre (FTTC) broadband?
It has a VDSL2 modem with G.vector, the technology used on FTTC lines. Check with your provider whether they allow third-party routers.
Is it dual band?
No, Wi-Fi is 2.4 GHz 802.11n only, up to 300 Mbps.
Are the Ethernet ports gigabit?
No, they are 10/100 Mbps. For gigabit ports and Wi-Fi 6 see the Archer VX1800v.
What is the difference between the TD-W9960 and TD-W9970?
Both are 300 Mbps VDSL/ADSL modem routers. On TP-Link's pages the TD-W9970 adds a USB 2.0 port for 3G/4G backup; the TD-W9960 has no USB port.
