The TP-Link TL-SG1008D is an 8-port unmanaged switch with 8× gigabit (10/100/1000 Mbps) RJ45 ports, in a desktop case, fanless. It is plug and play, so it works out of the box with no configuration.

What the TL-SG1008D is for

TP-Link make the TL-SG1008D as an unmanaged network switch: connect the cables and it works, with auto-negotiation and auto MDI/MDIX on every port, so there is nothing to configure. Each port runs at up to 1 Gbps, which suits PCs, printers, NVRs and other wired devices.

The TL-SG1008D does not supply PoE, so IP cameras and access points connected to it need their own power or a PoE injector. If you want to power cameras from the switch, look at our TP-Link PoE switches instead.

What you will need

You need network cable for each device (Cat5e or above for gigabit links) and a mains socket for the switch. It gives no PoE, so powered devices need a separate supply.

Does the TL-SG1008D support PoE?

No. The TL-SG1008D is a non-PoE switch. Devices that need PoE must be powered separately, for example with a PoE injector, or you can choose a TP-Link PoE switch.

Is the TL-SG1008D managed?

No. It is an unmanaged plug and play switch, so it has no web interface and needs no configuration.

How fast are the ports on the TL-SG1008D?

All 8 RJ45 ports are gigabit (10/100/1000 Mbps).

Can the TL-SG1008D be rack mounted?

No. The TL-SG1008D is a desktop switch. For a rack cabinet choose a rack-mountable model such as the TL-SG1016 or TL-SG1024.

Is the TL-SG1008D silent?

Yes. TP-Link list it as fanless, so it runs silently.
