TP-Link 4G and 5G routers: internet anywhere there is mobile signal.

A TP-Link 4G or 5G router takes a SIM card and shares a mobile data connection with the devices on site. They are ideal where there is no fixed broadband, or as a backup when the line goes down. Our range covers Omada business routers, outdoor models and Archer routers for small offices and homes. Zenith is an official TP-Link VAR Partner.

How do I choose a 4G or 5G router?

Who are they for?

CCTV installers providing remote viewing on building sites, farms and car parks, shops and offices needing failover, and temporary sites such as events and site cabins.

Picking the right model

  • 4G or 5G: 4G coverage is the widest and is enough for most remote CCTV. 5G gives more speed where your network has coverage. Check your provider's coverage map at the install address.
  • Indoor or outdoor: OUTDOOR models mount externally near the best signal and connect back over Ethernet, which helps in metal buildings and rural spots.
  • Omada or Archer: Omada models (ER and DR ranges) join an Omada controller for central management. Archer and TL-MR models are simpler standalone routers.
  • PoE: models with WP in the name can power devices over PoE. Check each datasheet for the budget.

4G and 5G router FAQs

Can I use a 4G router for CCTV?

Yes. A 4G router gives an NVR an internet connection for remote viewing. Choose a data plan sized to how often you will view footage.

Is 5G better than 4G for CCTV?

5G can offer more upload speed where coverage is good. Where 5G is patchy, a 4G router may be more reliable.

Do these routers come with a SIM?

No, use a data SIM from the network with the best coverage at your site.

Can a 4G router be a backup for broadband?

Many business models support failover. Check the product page for WAN backup support.

Do outdoor 4G routers need a separate power supply?

See each product page for supported power options, as some outdoor models are PoE powered.

Watch: 4G failover: keep tills and guest Wi-Fi running

Omada gateways switch to a 4G SIM automatically when broadband drops.
