Hikvision DS-KD8003-IME1(B) — 2 MP modular door station main unit for the KD8 range

The DS-KD8003-IME1(B) is the 2 MP main unit of a KD8 modular panel — the acrylic-fronted version with one call button, and the model most existing KD8 installations are built around. Hikvision's current (B) revision adds H.265 and ONVIF to the original. Add DS-KD-K12 nametag modules for the flats, a DS-KD-E reader or DS-KD-TDM touch display for entry, and the DS-KABD8003-RS3 rain shield to suit. The 5 MP DS-KD8005-IME1 is the higher-resolution successor with the larger 1000-station capacity; the stainless-steel-fronted DS-KD8003-IME1(B)/S (one button) and DS-KD8003-IME1(B)/NS (no button, for keypad or nametag-only panels) are listed separately.

Hikvision's KD8 modular door station is built from a main unit (camera, microphone, speaker and one call button) plus sub-modules that clip into a common frame: nametag buttons, card reader, keypad, display, indicator and induction loop. Modules connect to the main unit over RS-485 and take their 12 VDC from it, so a panel for a block of flats is specified module by module. Tell us the flat count and the entrance and we will draw up the frame, modules and rain shield.

This is part of Hikvision's IP video intercom range: door stations, indoor stations and accessories that connect over a standard network (PoE or 12 VDC) and are configured with the iVMS-4200 client or the Hik-Connect app. IP-series products are designed to be used together within that range. Camera

A 2 MP sensor with a wide 146° horizontal by 82° vertical field of view, WDR for a visitor backlit by the street and low-illumination IR supplement lighting for night. Compression is H.265, H.264 or MJPEG, and the stream can be pulled into a recorder over RTSP/ONVIF. Audio is a built-in omnidirectional microphone and loudspeaker with noise suppression and echo cancellation.

Door control and modules

Two lock relays rated 30 VDC 2 A, two exit-button inputs and two door-contact inputs cover an outer and inner door; four alarm inputs (two exit buttons and two door contacts by default) and a tamper switch complete the local I/O. The RS-485 port is dedicated to Hikvision sub-modules — nametag buttons, keypad, EM reader, indicator, induction loop and touch display — which take their 12 VDC from the main unit. Local memory holds 2000 users and 6000 cards (via a reader module).

System, power and rating

Up to 500 linked indoor stations and 16 sub door stations per system; protocols TCP/IP, RTSP, IPv6 and ONVIF over a 10/100 Mbps RJ45. Power is PoE 802.3af or 12 VDC 500 mA, consumption ≤ 5 W. IP65, -40 °C to 60 °C, surface or flush mounting. Linux with 32 MB ROM and 256 MB RAM.
