Small Office Networking & Wi-Fi with TP-Link Omada

Business-grade Wi-Fi and networking for small and medium offices, without enterprise prices.

Consumer routers struggle once an office has more than a handful of staff, phones and printers. TP-Link Omada gives small and medium businesses proper business networking: fast Wi-Fi, PoE switches for phones and cameras, secure remote access, and one dashboard to manage it all. Zenith Security Co is an official TP-Link VAR Partner.

What a modern office network looks like

  • Gateway: an Omada Fusion gateway combines the router and controller in one box, with 2.5G ports, VPN for remote staff, and licence-free cloud management. For a lower budget, the ER605 is a popular choice.
  • Switches: PoE+ switches power VoIP phones, access points and CCTV cameras from the comms cabinet.
  • Wi-Fi: one ceiling access point typically covers an open-plan area. Add more as the office grows, and devices roam between them seamlessly.
  • Security: separate networks for staff, guests and devices, plus IPS/IDS and content filtering on the gateway.
  • Remote support: your IT provider can monitor and fix issues through the Omada cloud, without a site visit.

Office networking FAQs

How many access points does an office need?

As a rough guide, one ceiling access point covers a typical open-plan floor area of a small office. Walls, floors and the number of users change this, so a site survey gives the most reliable answer.

Can staff connect securely from home?

Yes. Omada gateways include VPN options, including one-click Omada LightLink VPN on the Fusion gateways, WireGuard and IPsec.

Do I need a separate controller?

Not with a Fusion gateway, which has the controller built in. Otherwise use an OC200 hardware controller, the free software controller or Omada Cloud.

Can our VoIP phones be powered from the switch?

Yes. Omada PoE+ switches power standard PoE desk phones. Check the switch's total PoE budget against the number of phones and access points.
