The RG-AirMetro460F is a CPE (customer premises equipment) unit from Ruijie's RG-AirMetro wireless bridge series. Ruijie rate it for up to 15 km in point-to-point mode, using a 5 GHz 2 x 2 MIMO radio and a 23 dBi antenna with a 9° horizontal and vertical angle.

What the RG-AirMetro460F is for

Ruijie position the AirMetro series for wireless ISP (WISP) and CCTV scenarios. The RG-AirMetro460F supports both point-to-point and point-to-multipoint working modes, and Ruijie state that after pairing the bridges support up to 15 km of wireless transmission and up to 32 point-to-multipoint links. A typical CCTV job is bringing IP cameras on a distant building or pole back to the recorder where running cable is not practical.

The specification shows a dual-radio design, with a 2.4 GHz 1 x 1 radio alongside the 5 GHz 2 x 2 MIMO radio that Ruijie rate at up to 867 Mbps. The 460F's only Ethernet port is 10/100 Mbps, so the wired side limits traffic through the unit to 100 Mbps; add up the bitrate of everything the link must carry to check that is enough. Ruijie give the RG-AirMetro460G the same 15 km, 23 dBi and 867 Mbps figures with a 10/100/1000 Mbps port. SNMP is marked as not supported on the 460F.

Ruijie build it for harsh environments, with an IP65 rating, 6 kV surge protection, ±24 kV ESD protection, wind survivability of 220.32 km/h (137 mph) and an operating range of –40°C to +70°C. For management Ruijie list all-in-one cloud management and an easy site survey tool for the series, and the specification shows SON, an AI heatmap, a bridge speed test and restarting the device through the Ruijie Reyee App.

What you will need

This listing is one unit. A bridge link has two ends, so you need a second AirMetro device facing it; in a point-to-multipoint layout the CPEs pair to an AirMetro base station. Tell us what the link looks like and we will check what belongs at the far end. Power is 24 V passive PoE through the single PoE input. That is not 802.3af/at, so a standard PoE switch port will not power it and a 24 V passive PoE injector is needed; Ruijie's page does not list the box contents, so ask us whether one is supplied. Allow for outdoor-grade network cable and a mounting position with a clear line of sight to the far end.
