The TP-Link Omada ER7412-M2 is a multi-gigabit VPN router with two 2.5G RJ45 WAN/LAN ports, two gigabit SFP WAN/LAN ports, eight gigabit RJ45 WAN/LAN ports, an RJ45 console port and a USB 3.0 port. TP-Link quote 1,000,000 concurrent sessions, IPsec VPN throughput of 1133.1 Mbps (ESP-SHA256-AES256) and WireGuard throughput of 771.6 Mbps. It has a quad-core ARMv8 CPU, a steel case and mains power, with a rackmount kit included.

What the ER7412-M2 is for

It is the gateway for a business network with a broadband line faster than 1 Gbps or several lines to combine: the 2.5G ports take a multi-gig ONT or modem, and up to twelve ports can run as WAN for load balancing and failover, with a USB LTE dongle as backup. It is a step up from the ER7206 for faster lines and heavier VPN use.

It has no Wi-Fi, so pair it with Omada access points and network switches. Adopted into an Omada controller, the router, switches and APs are managed from one dashboard, including SD-WAN between sites.

As a TP-Link Omada router the ER7412-M2 can be managed centrally from an Omada Hardware, Software or Cloud-Based Controller and the Omada App, or standalone through its own web interface.

What you will need

Your broadband modem or ONT (a 2.5G port on it to use the full speed), network cable or an SFP module for a fibre WAN, and a switch for the LAN side. For Wi-Fi add Omada access points; for central management an Omada controller such as the OC200.

How many WAN ports does the ER7412-M2 have?

All twelve Ethernet ports can be set as WAN or LAN (two 2.5G RJ45, two gigabit SFP, eight gigabit RJ45), and the USB 3.0 port takes an LTE dongle for backup.

What VPN throughput does the ER7412-M2 give?

Is the ER7412-M2 Omada SDN compatible?

Yes. It works standalone through its web interface, or can be adopted by an Omada software controller, hardware controller or Omada Cloud and managed with your Omada switches and access points. TP-Link list SD-WAN as controller mode only.

ER7412-M2 or ER707-M2?

The ER707-M2 has seven Ethernet ports (two 2.5G, one SFP, four gigabit) and a 12 V adapter. The ER7412-M2 has twelve ports including two SFP, a quad-core CPU, higher VPN throughput and internal mains power.

Can the ER7412-M2 be rack mounted?

Yes. TP-Link list desktop and rackmountable mounting, and a rackmount kit is in the box.

We ship nationally from our multi-million pound warehouse, with orders leaving daily.
