The Dahua DHI-NVR4116HS-EI is a 16 channel compact WizSense AI NVR: a 1U network video recorder, also called a CCTV recorder or security camera recorder, for up to sixteen IP cameras of up to 16MP. It belongs to Dahua's WizSense NVR series and runs face detection and recognition, perimeter protection and SMD Plus on the recorder. It has one SATA bay (up to 20 TB), 4K HDMI and VGA output, and no built-in PoE ports, so the cameras are powered from a PoE switch or their own supplies.

How many cameras can I connect to the DHI-NVR4116HS-EI?

Up to 16 IP cameras, with resolutions up to 16MP. Bandwidth is 256 Mbps incoming, recording and outgoing with AI disabled, and 180 Mbps with AI enabled.

Does it have built-in PoE ports?

No. It has one 10/100/1000 Mbps RJ-45 network port, so the cameras need a PoE switch or their own power supplies.

Which AI functions run on the recorder itself?

Dahua lists AI by recorder as 1-channel face detection and recognition (up to 10 face databases and 20,000 face images), 2-channel perimeter protection with 10 IVS rules for each channel, and 4-channel SMD Plus. SMD Plus gives secondary filtering for humans and motor vehicles and reduces false alarms caused by leaves, rain and lighting changes. With compatible cameras, AI by camera adds ANPR, people counting, stereo analysis and heat map.

Can it record cameras from other brands?

Dahua lists third-party camera access for Panasonic, Sony, Hanwha, Axis, Pelco, Arecont, Canon and ONVIF. Interoperability is ONVIF 23.12 (Profile T, S and G).

How much storage can I fit?

One SATA port, up to 20 TB. Dahua notes that the maximum HDD capacity varies with environment temperature. Choose a hard drive from the Hard Drive option on this page, or choose recorder only.
