Dahua DHI-NVR5864-XI — 64-Channel WizMind Series Network Video Recorder
The Dahua DHI-NVR5864-XI is a 64-channel network video recorder from Dahua's WizMind range, built around 8 SATA bays for high-capacity RAID storage and onboard AI analytics including face detection, face recognition and smart motion detection. It supports IP cameras up to 32MP and can decode up to 32 channels at 1080p simultaneously, making it suited to larger multi-site or commercial installations.
Who is it for?
An NVR (network video recorder) receives, stores and manages footage from IP cameras over the network, giving you centralised recording, live viewing and remote playback. What you will need
- Surveillance-grade hard drives (up to 8 x 20TB) — standard desktop drives are not rated for 24/7 recording duty cycles.
- This is a standard (non-PoE) NVR, so IP cameras will need their own power — pair it with a PoE switch to power and connect your cameras over a single cable run.
- An HDMI or VGA monitor for initial setup and local configuration.

How many cameras can the DHI-NVR5864-XI support?
Up to 64 IP cameras, with support for resolutions up to 32MP per channel depending on your decoding requirements.
Does it work with cameras that don't have built-in AI?
Yes. On-camera AI (face recognition, SMD, ANPR, etc.) requires Dahua AI cameras, but the recorder itself can also run face detection and recognition, video metadata and perimeter protection analytics on up to 32 channels using standard cameras.
Is there a monthly fee to use the recorder or its AI features?
No. All recording, playback and onboard AI analytics run locally on the NVR with no subscription required.
Will it work with cameras from other brands?
Yes, the DHI-NVR5864-XI supports ONVIF (Profile T/S/G) as well as direct integration with several third-party camera brands, alongside full compatibility with the Dahua camera range.
