The Dahua DH-IPC-HDW3849HP-AS-PV-0280B is an 8MP TiOC (Tri-guard) dome-style IP camera built for active deterrence. It combines a 1/2.8" CMOS image sensor capable of a maximum 8MP output with built-in red and blue warning lights, an audible alarm, and switchable IR/warm-light illumination, so it can flag and challenge an intruder before anything is taken.
Who is it for?
IP cameras carry video and PoE power over one Cat5e/Cat6 cable to a PoE NVR — ideal when cabling from scratch or wanting resolutions/analytics beyond coax. At 8MP with SMD 4.0 human/vehicle detection and active deterrence built in, this camera suits car parks, yards, loading bays and building perimeters where a visible warning is wanted alongside high-resolution evidence. Frequently asked questions
Will this work with a non-Dahua NVR?
Yes — it streams via ONVIF, so it will work with most third-party NVR/VMS platforms, though you'll get full access to the active deterrence, SMD 4.0 and two-way talk features only through a Dahua NVR or the Dahua app.
Does it need separate power?
No — it's powered over the same Cat5e/Cat6 cable as its data connection (PoE) from a PoE NVR or PoE switch, so no separate power supply or cabling is needed at the camera.
How much storage will I need?
At 8MP, allow for larger file sizes than a 2-4MP camera; with H.265 compression a single camera on continuous recording typically needs several GB per day, so size your NVR's hard drive to the number of cameras, resolution and retention period you need.
Can the deterrence lights and alarm be scheduled?
Yes — the active deterrence response (lights, siren, voice) can be set to trigger on motion/SMD detection during chosen hours, or armed and disarmed via the one-tap disarming input.
