Common questions
Do I need a SIM card?
Yes. Dahua says the camera connects to mobile internet as long as you have a SIM card.
How is it powered?
The datasheet lists DC 12V (±30%) power. It does not list PoE for this model, so plan for a 12V DC supply at the camera.
How far does the IR reach?
Up to 40m. Smart IR adjusts the brightness of the LEDs for the distance of the object so close subjects are not whited out.
Which software can I use to view it?
Dahua lists a web viewer (IE, Chrome, Firefox and Safari), Smart PSS, DSS and DMSS, with iOS and Android apps. ONVIF Profile S and G are supported.
Can it record to a memory card?
Yes. The Micro SD slot takes cards up to 256GB, and NAS is also listed.
Is the lens adjustable?
No. This model has a fixed 3.6mm lens (Dahua lists 6mm as an option on the family).
Can it be used as an outdoor camera?
Yes. Dahua lists an IP67 housing and an operating temperature of -30°C to +60°C. The camera takes a SIM card and runs from a 12V DC supply, so it suits sites without a network cable.
Is it a waterproof camera?
The housing is rated IP67 in Dahua's datasheet.
Is it an infrared camera?
Yes. Dahua lists IR LEDs up to 40m, with Smart IR adjusting the LED intensity to the distance of the object, and 0 lux minimum illumination with IR on.
