Common questions

How many cameras can it record and power?

It has 8 channels and 8 built-in PoE ports (ports 1-8 support ePoE, 130W in total, up to 25.5W on one port), so it can power and record up to eight PoE IP cameras without a separate PoE switch. Dahua lists IP cameras up to 32MP.

Is it an 8K NVR?

Its HDMI output goes up to 7680 × 4320 (8K), and the VGA output up to 1920 × 1080. The cameras it records are listed up to 32MP.

What does WizSense mean?

WizSense is Dahua's range of AI products that use an independent AI chip and deep learning algorithms, focused on humans and vehicles. Dahua lists this recorder in its WizSense NVR range. See our guide to Dahua WizSense.

What AI does the recorder do itself?

AI by recorder: 2-channel face detection and recognition, 4-channel perimeter protection and 8-channel SMD Plus. Cameras that support them can add video metadata, ANPR, stereo analysis, heat map, people counting, PPE detection, smart object detection and smart sound detection.

How many hard drives does it take?

Two SATA ports, each disk up to 20TB. Dahua notes the limit varies with the environment temperature, and the recorder can also reach remote storage over iSCSI.

Will it work with cameras from other brands?

Dahua lists ONVIF 25.06 (Profile T, S, G and M) and third-party camera access for Panasonic, Sony, Axis, Arecont, Pelco, Canon and Hanwha.
