Dahua DHI-TPC-BF5401-TB13-BM-S2 - Thermal Imaging IP CCTV Bullet Camera

Dahua DHI-TPC-BF5401-TB13-BM-S2 — Thermal Imaging IP CCTV Bullet Camera, Temperature Measurement, Fire Detection, 13mm Lens, PoE, ePoE, IP67

The Dahua DHI-TPC-BF5401-TB13-BM-S2 is a thermal imaging IP CCTV bullet camera with a 13mm lens, from Dahua's Pro series (Dahua model TPC-BF5401-T-S2, a thermal network bullet camera). It uses a 400 × 300 vanadium oxide uncooled thermal sensor and Dahua lists temperature measurement, fire detection and alarm, cold and hot spot trace, tripwire, intrusion, and human and vehicle classification. Power is by DC 12V, PoE or ePoE, in a waterproof IP67 metal housing. The specification below is taken from Dahua's datasheet for the DHI-TPC-BF5401-T series, which lists this lens version as DHI-TPC-BF5401-TB13. Without the DHI- prefix the model is TPC-BF5401-TB13-BM-S2.

Also listed as TPC-BF5401-TB13-BM-S2.

Dahua describes the series as a fixed lens bullet camera that gives an all-in-one solution for long distance video surveillance in outdoor applications, with thermal technology letting its long range capabilities be used even at night. Because it images heat, it works as a night vision camera in total darkness. With the 13mm lens, this long range thermal camera has Dahua nominal detection ranges of 382 m for a man and 850 m for a vehicle.

Key features

• 400 × 300 vanadium oxide uncooled thermal sensor, 17 μm pixel size, 40 mK thermal sensitivity, 8-14 μm spectral range.
• 13mm athermalized, focus-free thermal lens (F1.0) with a 30.2° × 22.6° field of view.
• Dahua rates detection of a man (1.8 m × 0.5 m) at 382 m and a vehicle (4 m × 1.4 m) at 850 m, as nominal estimates.
• Fire detection and alarm, cold and hot spot trace, human and vehicle classification, plus IVS tripwire and intrusion.
• Temperature measurement: low temperature mode -20 °C to +150 °C, high temperature mode 0 °C to +550 °C, accuracy max ±2 °C or ±2%, with temperature threshold alarms and up to 12 spot, line and area rules at once.
• Power by DC 12V, PoE or ePoE, maximum 13 W; Dahua lists a ±15% input voltage tolerance and a 6 kV lightning rating.
• IP67 metal housing, operating temperature -40 °C to +70 °C.
• Micro SD card slot up to 256GB; ONVIF Profile S and G.
• 2 alarm inputs, 2 alarm outputs, 1 audio input, 1 audio output and RS-485.

Technical specification

Works with

• Dahua PFA121 waterproof junction box, listed by Dahua as an optional accessory.
• Dahua DH-PFA152-E pole mount bracket, listed by Dahua as an optional accessory.

Other lens versions with temperature measurement: DHI-TPC-BF5401-TB7-BM-S2 (7.5mm). Without temperature measurement: DHI-TPC-BF5401-B25-BM-S2 (25mm) and DHI-TPC-BF5401-B35-BM-S2 (35mm). The same 13mm lens without temperature measurement: DHI-TPC-BF5401-B13-BC-S2.

Common questions

What does the temperature measurement do?

Dahua lists -T models as providing remote temperature monitoring with temperature threshold alarms. The range is -20 °C to +150 °C in low temperature mode and 0 °C to +550 °C in high temperature mode, with accuracy of max ±2 °C or ±2%, and up to 12 spot, line and area rules at once.

What does the 13mm lens suit?

It gives a 30.2° × 22.6° view. Dahua rates man detection at 382 m and vehicle detection at 850 m with the 13mm lens, as nominal estimates.

Does it detect fires?

Dahua lists fire detection and alarm as an advanced function, together with cold and hot spot trace. It is a video-based early warning aid, and Dahua does not describe it as a certified fire alarm.

Does it need a separate analytics server?

No. Dahua describes IVS as built-in video analytics for tripwire and intrusion detection, and the fire detection and human and vehicle classification are camera functions.

How is it powered?

Dahua lists DC 12V, PoE or ePoE, with a maximum power consumption of 13 W.

Can it record to a memory card?

Yes, it has a Micro SD slot for cards up to 256GB, and Dahua also lists NAS and local PC recording.
