The Dahua DHI-TPC-BF1241-B7F8-DW-S2 is a 4MP thermal imaging IP CCTV bullet camera from Dahua's Eureka series (Dahua model TPC-BF1241-S2, a thermal network mini hybrid bullet camera, in other words a mini thermal camera). It has two channels: a 256 × 192 vanadium oxide thermal sensor with a 7mm lens, and a 4MP visible camera with an 8mm lens and 30m IR. Dahua lists heat detection, tripwire, human and vehicle classification, smoking detection and call detection, plus a built-in white light and audio alarm. It is the longer-range version of the DHI-TPC-BF1241-B3F4-DW-S2. Without the DHI- prefix the model is TPC-BF1241-B7F8-DW-S2.

It is an outdoor camera: IP67 protection and an operating range of -30 °C to +60 °C make it a waterproof camera as well. The visible channel is an infrared camera with 30m IR for night vision, and its AI functions make it an AI camera that can alarm on heat, tripwire and intrusion.

Dahua describes the Eureka thermal camera for short-distance monitoring such as perimeter protection and heat monitoring in small and medium scenes, widely applied in factories, car parks and villas.

Common questions

What are the thermal and visible channels?

The camera has two sensors. The thermal channel is a 256 × 192 vanadium oxide detector with a 7mm lens. The visible channel is a 4MP sensor with an 8mm lens and 30m IR, working down to 0 lux with IR on.

How far can the thermal channel see?

With the 7mm lens Dahua lists human detection at 292 m and vehicle detection at 897 m, human recognition at 75 m and vehicle recognition at 220 m. Heat detection reaches up to 86 m on a 0.2 m × 0.2 m target.

Does it have Wi-Fi?

No. This is the DW-S2 model, which connects through its RJ-45 port. Dahua lists the Wi-Fi versions as separate -DW-WIFI-S2 models.

Is this a temperature measurement (radiometric) camera?

It provides heat detection and alarm with cold and hot spot trace. Dahua's datasheet for this model does not list spot or area temperature measurement rules.

Can it be powered by PoE?

Yes. Dahua lists the power supply as 12 VDC ±20% or PoE, with a maximum of 12.3 W on PoE.

What does the white light and audio alarm do?

Dahua lists a built-in white light and audio alarm on the camera. The datasheet gives no further detail on how it is triggered.
