Dahua DHI-TPC-BF5401-TB7-BM-S2 - Thermal Imaging IP CCTV Bullet Camera

Dahua DHI-TPC-BF5401-TB7-BM-S2 — Thermal Imaging IP CCTV Bullet Camera, Temperature Measurement, Fire Detection, 7.5mm Lens, PoE, ePoE, IP67

The Dahua DHI-TPC-BF5401-TB7-BM-S2 is a wide angle thermal imaging IP CCTV bullet camera with a 7.5mm lens, from Dahua's Pro series (Dahua model TPC-BF5401-T-S2, a thermal network bullet camera). It uses a 400 × 300 vanadium oxide uncooled thermal sensor and Dahua lists temperature measurement, fire detection and alarm, cold and hot spot trace, tripwire, intrusion, and human and vehicle classification. Power is by DC 12V, PoE or ePoE, in a waterproof IP67 metal housing. The specification below is taken from Dahua's datasheet for the DHI-TPC-BF5401-T series, which lists this lens version as DHI-TPC-BF5401-TB7. Without the DHI- prefix the model is TPC-BF5401-TB7-BM-S2.

Also listed as TPC-BF5401-TB7-BM-S2.

Dahua describes the series as a fixed lens bullet camera that gives an all-in-one solution for long distance video surveillance in outdoor applications, with thermal technology letting its long range capabilities be used even at night. Because it images heat, it works as a night vision camera in total darkness.

Key features

• 400 × 300 vanadium oxide uncooled thermal sensor, 17 μm pixel size, 40 mK thermal sensitivity, 8-14 μm spectral range.
• 7.5mm athermalized, focus-free thermal lens (F1.0) with a 53.7° × 39.7° field of view.
• Dahua rates detection of a man (1.8 m × 0.5 m) at 221 m and a vehicle (4 m × 1.4 m) at 490 m, as nominal estimates.
• Fire detection and alarm, cold and hot spot trace, human and vehicle classification, plus IVS tripwire and intrusion.
• Temperature measurement: low temperature mode -20 °C to +150 °C, high temperature mode 0 °C to +550 °C, accuracy max ±2 °C or ±2%, with temperature threshold alarms and up to 12 spot, line and area rules at once.
• Power by DC 12V, PoE or ePoE, maximum 13 W; Dahua lists a ±15% input voltage tolerance and a 6 kV lightning rating.
• IP67 metal housing, operating temperature -40 °C to +70 °C.
• Micro SD card slot up to 256GB; ONVIF Profile S and G.

Technical specification

Works with

• Dahua PFA121 waterproof junction box, listed by Dahua as an optional accessory.
• Dahua DH-PFA152-E pole mount bracket, listed by Dahua as an optional accessory.

Other lens versions with temperature measurement: DHI-TPC-BF5401-TB13-BM-S2 (13mm). Without temperature measurement: DHI-TPC-BF5401-B25-BM-S2 (25mm) and DHI-TPC-BF5401-B35-BM-S2 (35mm).

Common questions

What does "early fire prevention" mean on this camera?

Dahua lists early fire prevention as a key point of this series, with fire detection and alarm and cold and hot spot trace. The -T models add temperature measurement with threshold alarms, so an alarm can be raised when a temperature passes the level you set. It is a video-based early warning aid, and Dahua does not describe it as a certified fire alarm.

How accurate is the temperature measurement?

Dahua lists accuracy of max ±2 °C or ±2%, across -20 °C to +150 °C in low temperature mode and 0 °C to +550 °C in high temperature mode.

What does the 7.5mm lens suit?

It gives the widest view in the series, 53.7° × 39.7°. Dahua rates man detection at 221 m and vehicle detection at 490 m with the 7.5mm lens, as nominal estimates.

Does it need a separate analytics server?

No. Dahua describes IVS as built-in video analytics for tripwire and intrusion detection, and the fire detection and human and vehicle classification are camera functions.

How is it powered?

Dahua lists DC 12V, PoE or ePoE, with a maximum power consumption of 13 W.

Can it record to a memory card?

Yes, it has a Micro SD slot for cards up to 256GB, and Dahua also lists NAS and local PC recording.
