The GSFP-850-MMF is a hot-pluggable Gigabit SFP fibre transceiver for multi-mode fibre, sending and receiving at 850nm over distances up to 550m. It's plug and play, full duplex, and built for a wide -40°C to +85°C operating range.

Shorter fibre runs — within a building or across a smaller site — where multi-mode fibre (cheaper than single-mode over short distances) is the more cost-effective choice. Needs an identical GSFP-850-MMF at the other end, unlike the single-mode 1310/1550 pairs which use different wavelengths per direction.
