The Dahua IPC-HFW8241XP-3D-028 is a dual-lens 3MP network camera purpose-built for accurate people counting. It uses two 1/2.8" STARVIS CMOS sensors with H.265 & H.264 triple-stream encoding, a 2.8mm fixed lens (3.6mm and 6mm options available), and on-board stereo analysis covering fall detection, strand detection, people approach, people-number error and violence detection.

Frequently asked questions

Will this camera work with a non-Dahua NVR?

Yes. It supports ONVIF, so it can be added to most third-party NVR and VMS platforms, though some Dahua-specific analytics may only be available with a Dahua NVR or the DSS/PSS/DMSS software.

Does it need a separate power supply?

No, provided your NVR or switch supplies PoE. If your existing NVR doesn't have a free PoE port, add a PoE switch between the camera and NVR.

How much storage do I need?

The camera supports a Micro SD card up to 256GB for local edge storage, but for continuous recording and redundancy we'd recommend recording to a PoE NVR with a dedicated hard drive sized to your retention period.

Do I need a Dahua NVR for the people counting analytics?

The stereo analysis features are processed on the camera itself, but reporting and management are easiest through Dahua's DSS/PSS or DMSS software, so a Dahua NVR or Dahua software licence is recommended to get the full benefit.
