Dahua DH-IPC-HDW3841EMP-S-0280B-S2 - 8MP 4K WizSense AI Turret PoE IP CCTV Camera

The Dahua DH-IPC-HDW3841EMP-S-0280B-S2 (listed by Dahua as the IPC-HDW3841EM-S-S2, here with the 2.8 mm lens) is an 8MP (4K) WizSense AI eyeball turret PoE IP camera for CCTV systems. Its 1/2.8" sensor outputs up to 3840 × 2160, and two infrared (IR) LEDs reach up to 30 m for night vision. Perimeter protection classifies humans and vehicles, and there is a built-in microphone and a Micro SD card slot. The metal housing is rated IP67, so it can be mounted outdoors.

Also listed as IPC-HDW3841EMP-S-0280B-S2.

Common questions

What does 4K mean for this camera?

It is an 8MP camera. Dahua lists a maximum resolution of 3840 × 2160 on a 1/2.8" sensor, with the main stream at up to 25/30 fps.

How far can it see at night?

It has two IR LEDs with an illumination distance of up to 30 m. Dahua gives a minimum illumination of 0.007 lux at F1.4 in colour, 0.0007 lux in black and white and 0 lux with the illuminator on, and says Starlight technology and the large aperture lens help it produce clear images in poor lighting. See our Starlight low light guide.

What does WizSense mean?

WizSense is Dahua's AI range, which uses deep learning to focus on humans and vehicles. This model has perimeter protection (tripwire and intrusion), SMD 4.0 and AI SSA, and Quick Pick works with an AI NVR. See our WizSense guide for more.

Which lens does this model have?

The 0280B in the model code is the 2.8 mm lens: horizontal view 107° and a DORI detect distance of 87.7 m. Dahua also lists a 3.6 mm lens for this camera family, but this listing is the 2.8 mm version.

Can I use it outdoors?

Yes. Dahua rates the metal housing IP67 and lists an operating range of -40 °C to +60 °C, so this camera can be used as an outdoor camera.

Will it work with a non-Dahua NVR?

Dahua lists ONVIF (Profile S, G and T), Milestone and Genetec support. Smart Search works with a Dahua Smart NVR and Quick Pick needs an AI NVR.

How is it powered?

By 12 VDC or PoE (802.3af). Dahua gives a basic power consumption of 4.9 W on PoE and a maximum of 8.9 W.
