The DHI-NVR5864-EI2 is a 64 channel recorder in a 2U case with eight hard drive bays and RAID 0/1/5/6/10. It is aimed at larger sites such as distribution centres, campuses, hospitals and multi-building estates, where many cameras and long retention need a single recorder that can survive a disk failure.

It records IP cameras up to 32MP, with 448 Mbps incoming bandwidth with AI off (200 Mbps with AI on). Each of the eight SATA bays takes a disk up to 26 TB. RAID 5, 6 or 10 lets the recorder keep footage when a drive fails, at the cost of some raw capacity. Two HDMI outputs (one up to 8K) and two VGA outputs drive separate monitors.

On-recorder AI covers 4 channels of face detection and recognition, 8 of perimeter protection, 16 of SMD Plus and 4 of AcuPick, plus WizSeek natural-language search. There are 16 alarm inputs and 8 outputs and two gigabit network ports. It has no PoE ports, so cameras connect through network switches.

• Supports Smart H.265+, H.265, Smart H.264+, H.264 and MJPEG, N+M cluster, iSCSI, EPTZ and one-click arming and disarming.
• NVR NEXT modular GUI for simpler day-to-day operation.

How many cameras can the DHI-NVR5864-EI2 record?

It has 64 audio and video access channels and supports IP cameras up to 32 MP. Bandwidth is 448 Mbps incoming, recording and outgoing with AI disabled, or 200 Mbps each with AI enabled.

Does the NVR5864-EI2 have PoE ports?

The Dahua datasheet lists no PoE ports for this recorder. It has 2 x RJ-45 network ports (10/100/1000 Mbps), so IP cameras are normally powered through a separate PoE switch.

What does WizSense mean on this recorder?

How much storage does it take?

Does 8K HDMI output mean it records 8K?

The datasheet lists 8K (7680 x 4320) as the HDMI output resolution for monitors, and states support for IP cameras up to 32 MP. Recording is limited by the bandwidth figures above.

Which AI features run on the recorder itself?

Face detection and recognition, video metadata, perimeter protection, SMD Plus, AcuPick, WizSeek and Text-Defined Alarm. ANPR, stereo analysis, people counting, heat map and PPE detection are listed as AI by camera, so they need a camera that supports them.

Can it record from non-Dahua IP cameras?

Dahua lists ONVIF 25.12 (Profile T, S, G and M) and third-party camera access for Panasonic, Sony, Axis, Arecont, Pelco, Canon and Hanwha.
