Common questions
What does WizMind mean?
Dahua describes WizMind as a full portfolio of project-oriented products (IP cameras, NVRs, PTZ, XVR, thermal and a software platform) that use deep learning algorithms. This camera is listed in Dahua's WizMind series. See our WizMind guide.
How much can one fisheye camera see?
The 1.4 mm lens gives a 180° field of view (horizontal, vertical and diagonal). Dahua lists ceiling, wall and ground mounting, and says its fisheye cameras can realize 360° surveillance.
Does it dewarp the image in the camera?
Dahua lists back-dewarp for this model, so the fisheye image is dewarped by software decoding in the viewing software. Display modes include fisheye view, 360° panoramic view plus PTZ and several 180° panoramic combinations.
Can it count people?
Yes. Dahua lists people counting in area for 4 areas, with a threshold that triggers linkage when the number of people is larger or smaller than the limit, and yearly, monthly and daily reports (matching devices are needed). A heat map shows crowd density.
Does it have an IP or IK rating?
Dahua's datasheet for this model does not list an IP or IK rating, so we do not state one. The 8MP DH-IPC-EBW8842P-AS fisheye is listed by Dahua as IP67 and IK10.
Does it have night vision?
Yes. Dahua lists a built-in IR illuminator with 3 IR LEDs that reaches up to 10 m, with 0.006 lux in colour, 0.0006 lux in black and white and 0 lux with the illuminator on.
Does it need a separate power supply?
It runs on 12 VDC or PoE (basic 4.4 W and maximum 8.8 W on PoE). A PoE switch can power it over the network cable.
Will it work with a recorder that is not Dahua?
It supports ONVIF Profile S, G and T, so it can be added to compatible third-party recorders. Smart Search works together with a Dahua Smart NVR. See our NVRs.
