The Dahua DHI-TPC-DF1241-TB3F4-DW-S2 is a dual lens thermal imaging IP CCTV turret camera from Dahua's Eureka series (Dahua model TPC-DF1241-T-S2, a thermal network mini hybrid eyeball camera with temperature measurement). It has two channels: a 256 × 192 vanadium oxide thermal sensor with a 3.5mm lens, and a 4MP visible camera with a 4mm lens and 30m IR. Dahua lists temperature measurement from -20 °C to +550 °C, heat detection, tripwire, intrusion, human and vehicle classification, smoking detection and call detection. Together these make it an AI camera as well as a thermal camera. It is the temperature measurement version of the DHI-TPC-DF1241-B3F4-DW-S2. Without the DHI- prefix the model is TPC-DF1241-TB3F4-DW-S2.

What can the temperature measurement do?

Dahua lists a temperature range of -20 °C to +150 °C in low temperature mode and 0 °C to +550 °C in high temperature mode, with accuracy of max ±2 °C or ±2%, and up to 12 spot, line and area rules at once. With the 3.5mm thermal lens the measuring distance is 1 m to 5 m for a 0.1 m × 0.1 m target.

What are the thermal and visible channels?

The camera has two sensors. The thermal channel is a 256 × 192 vanadium oxide detector with a 3.5mm lens. The visible channel is a 4MP sensor with a 4mm lens and 30m IR, working down to 0 lux with IR on. With IR on it works as an IR camera and night vision camera, while the thermal channel sees heat in total darkness.

How does the visible channel work in low light?

Dahua rates the 4MP visible channel at 0.05 lux in colour, 0.005 lux in black and white and 0 lux with its IR on, with an IR distance of 30 m. The thermal channel is a separate 256 × 192 heat sensor.

Can I power it over the network cable?

Yes. Dahua lists the power supply as 12 VDC ±20% or PoE, with a maximum of 12.3 W on PoE.

Can it record to a memory card?

Yes, it has a Micro SD slot for cards up to 256GB.

Is it suitable for outdoor use?

It is a waterproof camera for outdoor use: Dahua lists IP67 protection and an operating temperature of -30 °C to +60 °C.
