Common questions

Will it work with my existing recorder?

The video output can be switched between CVI, TVI, AHD and CVBS through the OSD menu, which Dahua says makes the camera compatible with most existing HD and SD DVRs. It still needs a recorder that supports one of those formats. See the Penta-brid recorders guide.

What does HDCVI mean?

HDCVI is Dahua's technology for sending HD video, audio, data and power signals over one coaxial cable. Read the HDCVI guide for more.

How long can the cable run be?

Dahua states up to 700 m for 5MP video over coaxial cable and up to 300 m over UTP cable, verified in Dahua's own test laboratory.

Does it record audio?

This -A version has a built-in microphone, so audio can be captured with the video.

What does Starlight mean here?

Dahua lists this camera as a Starlight model, with a 0.005 lux minimum illumination at F1.6 and Smart IR. See the Starlight guide.

Is it suitable for outdoor use?

It is IP67 rated and works from -40 °C to +60 °C. Dahua says the rating suits both indoor and outdoor environments.
