DVR/XVR recorders accept HD-over-coax (HDCVI/AHD/TVI), older analogue (CVBS) AND IP cameras on the same box — ideal for upgrading an existing coax-cabled system camera by camera without a full re-cable. With 8 analogue channels plus additional IP camera inputs, the DH-XVR5108HS-X suits a small shop, office or home installation where a handful of coax cameras are already in place and a few IP cameras may be added later, without needing a second recorder.

• A compatible hard drive (SATA HDD, sold separately) sized for your channel count and recording days
• RG59 coax cable and a 12V power supply to each analogue camera — this recorder does not power cameras over the coax cable the way a PoE NVR powers IP cameras

Can I mix HDCVI, AHD, TVI and CVBS cameras on the same recorder?

Yes. Each of the 8 analogue channels on the DH-XVR5108HS-X auto-detects HDCVI, AHD, TVI or CVBS, so you can mix camera types across the channels without reconfiguring the recorder.

Is there a monthly fee to view footage or use the app?

No. The DH-XVR5108HS-X records locally to its own hard drive and can be viewed free of charge over your network or remotely via the Dahua app — there is no subscription required.

Can I add IP cameras later?

Yes. As a Penta-brid recorder, the DH-XVR5108HS-X also accepts IP cameras in addition to its 8 analogue channels, so you can extend an existing coax install with IP cameras as your needs grow.

What happens when the hard drive is full?

By default the recorder overwrites the oldest footage once the hard drive is full, so it keeps recording continuously without manual intervention.
