The Dahua XVR5108HS-I3 is a Penta-brid digital video recorder with 8 analogue camera inputs and up to 12 additional IP camera inputs (up to 6MP) on the same box, so you can record footage from up to 20 cameras through one recorder.

DVR/XVR recorders like the XVR5108HS-I3 accept HD-over-coax cameras (HDCVI, AHD, TVI), older analogue (CVBS) cameras AND IP cameras on the same box — ideal for upgrading an existing coax-cabled system camera by camera without a full re-cable. With 8 analogue channels plus 12 IP channels, it suits small sites such as shops, offices, warehouses or homes that need to cover entrances, a yard or a small retail floor now, with room to add IP cameras as the site grows.

• A SATA hard drive (up to 16TB) — not included, fitted separately
• RG59 coaxial cable and a 12V power supply run to each HD analogue camera — this DVR does not power cameras over the cable the way a PoE NVR does
• A monitor or TV with an HDMI or VGA input to view and configure the recorder
• Standard network cabling if you plan to add IP cameras or view the system remotely

Can I mix analogue and IP cameras on the XVR5108HS-I3?

Yes. The XVR5108HS-I3 is a Penta-brid recorder, so its 8 analogue channels accept any mix of HDCVI, AHD, TVI or older CVBS cameras, and you can add up to 12 further IP cameras (up to 6MP) on the same recorder.

Is there a monthly fee to use this recorder?

No. Recordings are stored locally on the internal hard drive and there is no subscription required to record, play back or view footage.

Can I add IP cameras later if I start with analogue only?

Yes, the 12 IP channels are available from day one, so you can connect IP cameras alongside your existing analogue cameras whenever you are ready to expand.

Does the recorder power the cameras?

No. Unlike a PoE NVR, this DVR does not supply power over the camera cable, so each HD analogue camera needs its own 12V power supply run alongside the RG59 coaxial video cable.
