Common questions
What does WizSense mean on the DH-IPC-HFW3849EP-AS-IL-0280B?
WizSense is Dahua's AI range, which Dahua says focuses on humans and vehicles. This model supports intrusion and tripwire with human and vehicle classification, stay detection, loitering detection and full-image face detection. Our WizSense guide explains the range.
How does Smart Dual Light work?
The IR illuminator is normally on at night. When a target enters the monitored area the warm light switches on and the camera records full-colour video, then it returns to IR when the target leaves, which reduces light pollution. Illuminator control can be Auto or Manual. Our Smart Dual Light guide has more detail.
Is it an infrared camera?
Yes. It has built-in multi-core IR, which reaches up to 30 m with the 2.8mm lens, and it works at 0 lux with the illuminator on. The Smart Dual Light warm light switches on when a target appears, so the camera records full-colour video.
How far do the lights reach on the 2.8mm lens?
With the 2.8mm lens Dahua rates the IR and the warm light at up to 30 m each. The 3.6mm version, DH-IPC-HFW3849EP-AS-IL-0360B, reaches up to 40 m.
How is it powered, and where does it record?
It runs from 12 VDC (±30%) or PoE (802.3af). It can record to a Micro SD card up to 512 GB, or to FTP, SFTP or NAS, and it supports ONVIF Profile S, G, T and M.
Is it suitable for outdoor use?
Yes, it is an outdoor CCTV camera. It is IP67 rated, so it is dust-proof and the enclosure keeps working after soaking in 1 m of water for 30 minutes, which in everyday terms makes it a waterproof camera. Dahua lists an operating temperature of -40 °C to +60 °C.
Does it record sound?
Yes. It is a camera with a built-in microphone, plus 1 audio input and 1 audio output (RCA) on the cable.
