Frequently asked questions
Will this camera work with a non-Dahua NVR?
Yes. It supports ONVIF (Profile S, G and T), so it can be added to most third-party NVR and VMS systems, though some Dahua-specific AI features are only available when paired with a Dahua NVR.
Does it need a separate power supply?
No — it can be powered over PoE+ (802.3at) from a compatible NVR or switch, removing the need for a local power supply. A 12VDC supply can be used instead if PoE is not available.
How much storage will I need?
At 8MP, footage uses more storage than lower-resolution cameras; Dahua's Smart H.265+ coding helps reduce bitrate, but we'd still recommend sizing your NVR's hard drive generously, especially if using continuous recording with multiple streams.
Can I record locally on the camera itself?
