The Dahua DH-HAC-HDW1509TP-IL-A-S2 is a 5MP 3K HDCVI IR turret CCTV camera with Smart Dual Light and a built-in microphone, from the Dahua HDCVI Lite Series. Dahua's own name for this housing is "eyeball". Smart Dual Light gives you IR or warm light up to 40m: paired with a Dahua AI XVR, the camera switches on its warm light for full-colour video when Perimeter Protection or SMD Plus detects a target in the rule area, then drops back to IR to cut light pollution. The 2.8mm version comes in white, grey or black. Its datasheet describes the Lite Series as ideal for residential areas and small and medium business solutions. Rated IP67 (dust-tight and protected against immersion), it can be mounted outdoors, and its IR LEDs reach up to 40m.

Common questions

Does it record in colour at night?

Yes, in warm light mode. In smart mode with a Dahua AI XVR it uses IR until Perimeter Protection or SMD Plus detects a target, then switches to warm light. Our Smart Dual Light cameras explained guide has more detail.

Is this a 3K camera?

Its maximum picture is 2880 × 1620 (5MP, 16:9), the size usually sold as 3K. Dahua lists 25 fps at 5MP over CVI.

Does it record sound?

Yes. It has a built-in microphone, and HDCVI sends the audio back over the coaxial cable.

Which recorder do I need?

The output switches between CVI, TVI, AHD and CVBS. To use the 5MP 16:9 picture and Smart Dual Light, Dahua says the XVR firmware must be V4.001.0000004.1.R.220323 or later. Our Penta-brid recorders explained guide covers recorders that take HDCVI cameras.

Does it need a separate power supply?

Yes. This model runs from 12 VDC ±30%. Dahua lists power over coax on the separate IL-A-POC model.

How far can I run the cable?

Dahua's laboratory results are up to 700m over coaxial cable and up to 300m over UTP cable for 2MP, 5MP and 8MP HD video.

Which colour should I choose?

White suits light walls and soffits; grey and black are less noticeable on dark brick, cladding and black fascias.
