Frequently asked questions
Will this camera work with a non-Dahua NVR?
Yes. It supports ONVIF, so it can be added to most third-party NVR and VMS systems as well as a Dahua recorder, though some Dahua-specific analytics may only be available on a Dahua NVR.
Does it need a separate power supply?
No. Like other Dahua IP cameras, it is designed to be powered over the same Ethernet cable as its video feed (PoE) from a PoE NVR or PoE switch, so a separate power supply isn't normally required.
How much storage will I need?
Storage depends on resolution, frame rate, compression and how many days of footage you want to keep. As an 8MP camera, plan for more storage per camera than a typical 2-4MP unit, and size your NVR's hard drive(s) accordingly.
Can one camera really replace two separate cameras?
In many cases yes — the dual-lens 180° stitched image is designed to cover the width that would otherwise need two single-lens cameras, which can reduce the number of cable runs and NVR channels needed.
