What does Penta-brid mean on this recorder?

It accepts HDCVI, AHD, TVI, CVBS and IP video inputs. The 16 BNC ports auto-detect the analogue format and IP cameras can be added on top. See Dahua Penta-brid recorders explained and Dahua HDCVI explained.

Does it record 4K?

Yes. With Encode Enhancement off the main stream records 4K up to 15 fps on the analogue channels; with Encode Enhancement on, channels 1, 5, 9 and 13 can record 4K up to 30 fps. The HDMI output supports up to 3840 x 2160.

How many IP cameras can it add?

Up to 32 IP channels (16 by default plus 16 when analogue channels are converted), each up to 8 MP, with 128 Mbps incoming bandwidth. Once IP extension is enabled, EPTZ, Video Quality Analytics, Scene Changing, Face Recognition, Face Detection, SMD, Perimeter Protection, QuickPick 2.0 and Privacy Protection cannot be used.
