The Dahua DH-XVR5216AN-4KL-I3 is a 16 channel 4K-N/5MP Penta-brid WizSense XVR CCTV DVR (digital video recorder) in a 1U case with two hard drive bays. It is a hybrid DVR: one recorder takes HDCVI, AHD, TVI, CVBS and IP cameras, with up to 32 IP channels of up to 8MP each, so an existing coax system can be upgraded camera by camera. Which cameras can I connect?
This CCTV recorder takes HDCVI, AHD, TVI and CVBS cameras on the 16 BNC channels, plus IP cameras: up to 32 IP channels in total (16 by default plus 16 converted analogue channels), each up to 8MP. What resolution does it record?
The main stream on all channels records 4K at 1-7 fps, 6MP at 1-10 fps, 5MP at 1-12 fps, 4K-N, 4MP and 3MP at 1-15 fps, and 4M-N, 1080P, 720P, 960H, D1 and CIF at 1-25/30 fps.
Which AI functions does it have?
SMD Plus on up to 16 channels, perimeter protection (advanced model 2 channels, general model 8 channels) and face recognition on 2 channels. Dahua notes that face recognition conflicts with SMD Plus and perimeter protection, and that the AI functions are disabled once IP channels are added beyond the existing channels. Does it power cameras over the coax cable?
Dahua's datasheet for this model does not list PoC. The PoC version is listed separately: DH-XVR5216AN-4KL-I3-16P.
What are Smart Dual Illuminators?

How much storage can I fit?
Two SATA ports, each up to 16TB. Dahua notes the maximum capacity varies with environment temperature.
