The Dahua XVR5232AN-I3 is a 32-channel Penta-brid digital video recorder from Dahua's AI series, built to run HDCVI, AHD, TVI and CVBS analogue cameras alongside IP cameras from the same box. It supports encoding up to 5M-N at 20fps or 1080p at 25fps per channel, with two SATA bays for up to 16TB of storage per drive.
Who is it for?
DVR/XVR recorders accept HD-over-coax (HDCVI/AHD/TVI), older analogue (CVBS) AND IP cameras on the same box — ideal for upgrading an existing coax-cabled system camera by camera without a full re-cable. With 32 analogue channels plus room for up to 48 additional IP channels (up to 8MP), the XVR5232AN-I3 suits larger sites such as warehouses, retail parks, multi-building premises or schools that want to keep an existing coax installation running while adding IP cameras where higher resolution or PoE convenience is needed.

- A SATA hard drive rated for 24/7 surveillance recording (up to 16TB per bay, 2 bays) — not included
- RG59 coax cable and a separate 12V power supply run to each analogue camera; unlike a PoE NVR, this recorder does not power cameras over the video cable
- An HDMI or VGA monitor for local viewing and setup
Frequently asked questions
Can I mix analogue and IP cameras on the XVR5232AN-I3?
Yes. It is a Penta-brid recorder, so it accepts HDCVI, AHD, TVI and CVBS analogue cameras across its 32 channels and can take up to 48 additional IP cameras (up to 8MP) at the same time.
Is there a monthly fee to use this recorder?
No. There is no ongoing subscription — recordings are stored locally on the SATA hard drive(s) you fit, and you can view live and recorded footage over the network at no extra cost.
Can I add IP cameras later rather than all at once?
Yes. You can start with your existing analogue cameras and add IP cameras to the spare IP channels as your budget or site allows, without replacing the recorder.
Do I need a separate power supply for each camera?
Yes for analogue cameras — the XVR5232AN-I3 does not send power down the coax cable, so each HDCVI/AHD/TVI/CVBS camera needs its own 12V supply. IP cameras can instead be powered over a PoE switch if you prefer.
