The Gigaset N530 IP PRO is a single-cell IP DECT base station for small businesses. It connects to your network by Ethernet, registers with a SIP phone system, cloud PBX or VoIP provider, and lets you register up to 8 Gigaset professional DECT handsets to it, so your team can make and take calls on cordless VoIP DECT phones around the building. Gigaset describes it as an entry-level system for smaller companies such as agencies, doctors' surgeries, restaurants and hairdressing salons.

What the N530 IP PRO is for

A DECT phone system built on an IP base station has two halves: the base station on your network and the handsets people carry. The N530 IP PRO is the base station. One base station forms one DECT cell, which Gigaset rates at up to 50 m indoors and up to 300 m outdoors, and it handles up to 8 handsets, 8 SIP accounts and 8 simultaneous calls.

Each handset can have its own SIP account, or you can assign several accounts to one handset, so that a shared business number rings on several handsets. Handsets on the base station can also make toll-free internal calls and transfer external calls to each other. Gigaset states that the N530 IP PRO supports all current Gigaset Professional DECT handsets and works with common VoIP providers and PBX systems, with the up-to-date compatibility list held in the Gigaset Professional Wiki. What you will need

The N530 IP PRO is a base station only, so you need three things alongside it. First, DECT handsets from the Gigaset professional range: Gigaset's datasheet lists the S700H PRO, R700H PRO, R700H protect PRO, SL800H PRO and SL850H PRO, and Gigaset's public wiki holds its full handset and platform compatibility list. Second, a SIP phone system, cloud PBX or VoIP provider that the base station can reach over your network; check yours against Gigaset's compatibility list. Third, power: either a PoE switch (IEEE 802.3af, class 1), such as those in our data networking range, or the included power supply. Gigaset's datasheet lists two power supply models, C808 (EU) and C809 (UK), so call us to confirm which one comes with this part number. The base station is set up through its web configurator in a browser, from a computer on the same network.

Check the limits against your site before you order: up to 8 handsets, 8 SIP accounts, 8 simultaneous calls and a maximum of five wideband G.722 calls. If one cell will not cover your building, Gigaset says up to 6 repeaters can be added in a star configuration. Its datasheet names the Gigaset Repeater HX, while its administration guide says that for the time being repeaters without encryption can be registered, so call us to check the repeater you have in mind first.

Is the Gigaset N530 IP PRO a phone, and are handsets included?

No. The N530 IP PRO is a base station. Gigaset's datasheet lists a base station, LAN cable, security leaflet, quick start guide and power supply, but no handsets. You register compatible Gigaset DECT handsets to it and connect it to your SIP phone system or VoIP provider over your network.

How many handsets, calls and repeaters does the N530 IP PRO support?

Up to 8 handsets, 8 SIP accounts and 8 simultaneous calls, with a maximum of five wideband G.722 calls per base station. Up to 6 repeaters can extend the DECT range, arranged in a star configuration rather than a chain. If you need more than 8 handsets, call us before you order.

Does the N530 IP PRO work with Microsoft Teams?

Gigaset's product page and datasheet do not mention Teams, but Gigaset's public wiki has a Microsoft Teams integration guide that is marked as valid for the N530. That guide lists Microsoft licence and firmware requirements, so please check it against your Teams set-up.
