What the N770 is for

The N770 suits sites where a single DECT cell is not enough, such as offices, industrial sites and healthcare settings, as Gigaset names them. Each unit forms a DECT radio cell, and units can be combined with seamless handover and roaming so handsets keep a call going as users move around. In Gigaset's small system (1 to 10 base stations, up to 50 handsets, 20 simultaneous calls) one unit takes the integrator and DECT manager roles and also works as a base station. In its medium system (11 to 20 base stations, up to 100 handsets, 30 simultaneous calls) the manager unit does not act as a base station. It connects to an on-premise PBX, a hosted or cloud PBX or a VoIP provider over SIP.

What you will need

The N770 IP PRO is a base station, so you need DECT handsets, a SIP phone system or provider, and power. Gigaset's datasheet lists the S700H PRO, R700H PRO, R700H protect PRO, SL800H PRO and SL850H PRO handsets and points to its public wiki for the full handset and platform compatibility list. Power comes from a PoE switch or injector (IEEE 802.3af), or from Gigaset's optional separate power supply, which is not included. Gigaset stresses careful planning of the DECT network, including how many base stations you need and where they go, before installation.
