The Grandstream WP836 is a ruggedised cordless Wi-Fi IP phone and VoIP handset with dual-band Wi-Fi 6, 3 SIP accounts, integrated Bluetooth 5.4, a 2.8-inch colour display and a push-to-talk button. It is supplied with a charger cradle, power adapter, belt clip and wall bracket. Check before ordering: it connects over Wi-Fi only (not DECT), so you need a SIP service and good Wi-Fi coverage, and Grandstream states it is not pre-configured to make emergency calls.
The Grandstream WP836 is a ruggedised cordless Wi-Fi phone: a Wi-Fi telephone, Wi-Fi IP phone and VoIP handset that connects to your wireless network instead of a cable or a DECT base station and makes and receives calls over SIP. It has integrated dual-band Wi-Fi 6 (802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax) with 802.11k/r/v support and roaming support, 3 SIP accounts and 3 lines, voice conferencing (Grandstream's datasheet lists 5-way; its quick installation guide lists 4-way), integrated Bluetooth 5.4, a 2.8-inch colour display and a 3000mAh rechargeable battery with 10 hours of talk time (laboratory data). It is IP67 rated (Grandstream's datasheet also lists IP69K) and 2.0m drop safe, and the pack includes a charger cradle, belt clip and wall bracket.
A Wi-Fi handset suits people who need to take calls while they move around a site rather than sit at a desk. Grandstream describes the WP836 as suitable for offices, retail, logistics, healthcare, security and other vertical-market uses. Because it joins your existing Wi-Fi network and registers to a SIP server, PBX or hosted VoIP service, it does not need a separate DECT base station. As a rugged phone for site work it is IP67 rated (Grandstream's datasheet also lists IP69K). The ruggedised casing is water-proof, dust-proof, cleaning chemical resistant and antibacterial, and the handset is rated 2.0m drop safe. A configurable push-to-talk button and customisable function buttons such as Alarm and Paging are listed, along with push-button, man-down, no-movement, running and ambient-sound alarm functions, which Grandstream says allow the device to alert other users in emergency situations. Grandstream's product page also describes AI-based noise reduction to keep calls clear, two built-in Wi-Fi antennas and roaming support so a handset can stay connected as it moves around a site.

The WP836 is a SIP phone, so it needs a SIP server, IP PBX or hosted VoIP service to register with, and a Wi-Fi network that the handset can join. Grandstream's datasheet does not list compatible PBX systems or service providers, so please check with your provider or PBX supplier before you order. A Wi-Fi handset relies on your wireless network, so check that coverage reaches every area where it will be used. Grandstream's quick installation guide notes that the WP836 is not pre-configured to support or make emergency calls and that you must make additional arrangements to access emergency services. It also advises against using a third-party power adapter. Please call us to confirm conferencing, standby and IP rating for the stock supplied, as Grandstream's documents differ. Bluetooth is integrated for headsets, and the datasheet lists a Type-C charging interface as the auxiliary port, so call us if you need to check a particular headset before you order.
We are a UK supplier, not an installer, and we will go through the WP836 with you before you buy so you can check it suits your Wi-Fi set-up and your phone service. Our trade counter is in Wolverhampton and we have been operating since 2012. You can also browse more DECT and wireless IP phones.
No. The WP836 is a cordless Wi-Fi IP phone rather than a DECT one. It joins your Wi-Fi network (integrated dual-band Wi-Fi 6, on the 2.4GHz or 5GHz band) and registers to your SIP server, PBX or hosted VoIP service instead of pairing with a DECT base station. The pack includes a charger base, which Grandstream's datasheet says supports wall installation, and a wall bracket.
Yes. Grandstream lists integrated Bluetooth 5.4 and says it is there to connect headsets. The datasheet lists a Type-C charging interface as its auxiliary port. Call us on 01902 902251 if you want to check a particular headset before you order.
Grandstream lists the WP836 phone, Type-C power adapter, charger base, belt clip, 1 lithium-ion battery, M3 screw, wall bracket and a quick installation guide.
