What the 6940w is for
The 6940w is a VoIP phone for a desk that needs a large touch display and flexible connection options. Mitel's guide describes it as physically identical to the 6940, with embedded Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.x and Energy Efficient Ethernet added. It needs a SIP-based IP PBX or hosted SIP service with a SIP account created for the phone, so check with your phone system or service provider before ordering.

What you will need
Mitel lists a SIP-based IP PBX system or network with a SIP account for the phone, Ethernet cabling (Category 5/5e, with Category 6 for optimum Gigabit performance) and either a PoE network, a PoE injector or switch, or the separately sold power adapter. Compatibility with a particular phone system or hosted service is decided by that platform, so check the product page or call us before you order.

Does the Mitel 6940w have Wi-Fi?
Yes. Mitel states that the 6940w has embedded 802.11a/b/d/g/n dual-band wireless. Wi-Fi must be enabled by your system administrator, and Mitel notes that the LAN and PC ports are disabled while the phone is connected over Wi-Fi.
What is the difference between the 6940 and 6940w?
