Hikvision has partnered with Natilon, a cloud time-lapse specialist, so that Hikvision IP cameras can feed Natilon's Timelapse Cloud and turn site CCTV into an automatic construction progress camera. Announced on 10 August 2026, the integration produces time-lapse video up to 8K on a daily, weekly or monthly cycle. If you run construction, civil engineering or fit-out projects, it means the cameras guarding the site can also document the build. Here's how it works and what it can do.
What is the Hikvision and Natilon integration?
Natilon is a Türkiye-based provider of cloud time-lapse software. Its Natilon Timelapse Cloud is a SaaS platform for monitoring construction progress and keeping a long-term visual record of a project. With the new integration it can take scheduled snapshots from connected Hikvision IP cameras, send them through a cloud rendering process, and automatically produce time-lapse videos, up to 8K resolution, every day, week or month.
Hikvision says integrators and users can create a free account at my.natilon.com and start with a 15-day free trial.
How it works
- The camera watches the site as normal, recording to the NVR for security.
- Natilon takes snapshots on a schedule, for example every few minutes during working hours.
- The cloud builds the time-lapse by stitching the snapshots into a video automatically.
- The project team views and shares the results online, from a daily clip to a full-project film.
The big advantage is that it uses hardware you may already have on site. There's no need for a separate dedicated time-lapse camera rig.
What construction time-lapse can do
- Prove progress. A dated visual record shows clients, funders and head office exactly where the job is, without a site visit.
- Help settle disputes. When a delay or variation is questioned, footage of what happened and when is far stronger than memory.
- Coordinate trades. Project managers can check deliveries, crane activity and sequencing remotely.
- Marketing. A finished time-lapse of a building going up makes compelling content for the developer, contractor and architect.
- Handover and records. A visual archive of the build, including what went into the walls and floors before they were closed up, is useful long after completion.
Who it helps
- Main contractors and developers who need progress reporting across one or more sites.
- Civil engineering and infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges and utilities, which run for months or years.
- EPC contractors (engineering, procurement and construction) managing large industrial builds.
- Security installers who already provide site CCTV and can now offer time-lapse as an extra service on the same cameras.
Choosing cameras for site security and time-lapse
A time-lapse is only as good as the snapshots it's built from. For a camera that does both jobs:
- Go for higher resolution. 8MP (4K) cameras capture more detail across a wide site, such as the DS-2CD2387G3-LIS2UY/SL 8MP ColorVu 3.0 turret, which also has a strobe light and audible warning to deter intruders out of hours.
- Use a varifocal lens to frame the whole build, for example the iDS-2CD7A86G0-IZHS 8MP DeepinView bullet (8–32mm) for distant views, with perimeter protection analytics for security.
- Mount high and fixed. A fixed position on a tall pole, a neighbouring building or the welfare cabins keeps every frame lined up. Don't use a PTZ that moves around for the time-lapse view.
- Plan power and internet. The cloud needs a reliable connection to collect snapshots, so plan the site's broadband or 4G router and power before the cameras go up.
- Keep recording locally. Security footage should still go to an NVR with surveillance-rated drives on site, with the cloud time-lapse running alongside.
Check with Natilon that your exact camera model is supported before you rely on it for a project.
Our take
Construction sites already put a lot of money into temporary CCTV. Getting a time-lapse out of the same cameras is a sensible way to get more value from it, especially as progress reporting is something most project teams do anyway. For installers who supply site security, it's an easy add-on to offer.

Construction time-lapse: quick questions
Can I use my existing Hikvision cameras for time-lapse?
That's the idea of the integration: Natilon collects snapshots from connected Hikvision IP cameras already on site. Check your model is supported first.
What resolution are the time-lapse videos?
Natilon says it can render time-lapse video up to 8K.
How often are time-lapse videos made?
On a daily, weekly or monthly cycle.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. Hikvision says users can register at my.natilon.com and start a 15-day free trial.
