HiLook Video Intercom Kits: IP, Hybrid and 4-Wire Door Entry for Homes

HiLook, Hikvision's value brand, launched its own video intercom range in August 2024: IP, Hybrid and 4-Wire door entry kits with a 2MP door camera, one-press calling, a touchscreen indoor monitor and phone control through the HiLook app. The range is aimed at homeowners and small properties who want a proper video door entry system without a big budget. Here's what's in the range, how the three kit types differ and which suits your home.

What is a video intercom?

A video intercom (or video door entry system) puts a door station with a camera, speaker and call button outside, and an indoor monitor inside. When a visitor presses the button you see and talk to them, and you can release an electric lock or gate without going to the door. With an app, the call also reaches your phone, so you can answer the door when you're out.

The HiLook intercom range: three kit types

  • IP kits connect over a network cable. HiLook lists an IP65 weatherproof door station, a touchscreen indoor monitor and mobile control. IP suits new builds and anyone who wants the most flexibility.
  • Hybrid kits are plug-and-play with HD imaging and app support, designed to drop into a home without network set-up.
  • 4-Wire kits are also plug-and-play, for simple, quick installation over a four-core cable.

HiLook says the Hybrid and 4-Wire kits need no extra configuration to get working.

Key features

  • 2MP door camera for a clear view of whoever is at the door.
  • One-press calling from the door station to the indoor monitor.
  • Live view in the app, so you can check the front door at any time, not just when someone calls.
  • Answer and unlock from your phone, handy for deliveries, family and tradespeople.

Which kit type should you choose?

  • Replacing an old audio doorbell or intercom? If there's already a multi-core cable to the door, a 4-Wire or Hybrid kit is usually the quickest swap.
  • New build, renovation or extension? Run a network cable and go IP: it's easier to expand and works with PoE switches.
  • Existing 2-wire cable only? Look at a 2-wire system instead. See our Hikvision 2-wire and 4-wire intercom guide.
  • Want to open a gate or door? Check the door station's relay output and pair it with a suitable electric lock or gate controller.

Our take

HiLook has built its name on affordable, easy-to-fit CCTV, and the intercom range follows the same idea: the core features most homes need (a clear camera, one-press calling and phone answering) in kits matched to the cable you already have. Choosing the right kit type for your wiring matters more than any spec on the box.
