Hikvision Video Intercom: 2-Wire HD, 4-Wire 720p and All-in-One Indoor Stations

Hikvision video intercom now covers every type of building: 2-wire HD systems that reuse the existing cable in apartment blocks, 4-wire 720p analogue kits for houses, and an all-in-one indoor station that controls doors, alarms and cameras from one touch screen. 2-wire HD intercom (December 2023): upgrade without rewiring

Replacing an old door entry system in a block of flats usually stops at one question: do we have to rewire the building? Hikvision's 2-wire HD system is designed to reuse the existing two-core cable and work with the wiring layouts common in apartment buildings, from single floors to multi-building sites.

• More bandwidth over old cable, giving clearer pictures and control signals comparable to IP.
• 2MP door station video with WDR for faces in bright backlight.
• 7-inch touch-screen indoor stations with a tablet-style feel.
• Answer and unlock from anywhere with the Hik-Connect app.
• Plug-and-play set-up: connect a phone to the device's Wi-Fi hotspot and configure it in a mobile browser, with no PC software needed.
• Connection status can be checked from a mobile browser for quick fault-finding.

4-wire 720p analogue intercom (December 2023): simple HD for houses

For villas and houses, Hikvision launched a 4-wire HD analogue system using its HD-TVI technology:

• 720p HD video, sharper than traditional analogue (CVBS) intercoms.
• Plug and play: connect the wires and it works. Adjust ringtone, unlock time, brightness and volume with buttons on the indoor station.
• Up to 100 metres of cable (AWG16), with up to 2 door stations and 3 indoor stations in one system.
• Connect analogue cameras directly to the indoor station to view the garage or driveway.

All-in-one indoor station (July 2021): one screen for the whole building

The All-in-one Indoor Station is a wall-mounted tablet that acts as a control centre for Hikvision devices through the built-in Hik-Connect app:

• Unlock doors, answer the intercom, watch cameras and NVRs, and arm or disarm the alarm, all with a tap.
• Check device, network and battery status, and room temperature.
• Installers can create linkage rules, for example linking the alarm with CCTV for video verification.

Which intercom should you choose?

• Apartment block with existing 2-core cable: 2-wire HD.
• House or small building, simple and low cost: 4-wire analogue HD.
• New build, offices or a system that needs integration: IP intercom over network cable.
