The Dahua XVR5832S-4KL-I3 is a 32-channel Penta-brid digital video recorder (DVR) built into a compact 2U chassis, giving installers a single recorder that can take HD-over-coax (HDCVI, AHD, TVI), older analogue (CVBS) and IP cameras at the same time.

What you will need
- At least one 3.5" SATA hard drive (not included) — up to 16TB per drive across 8 bays
- RG59 coax cable and a 12V power supply run to each analogue camera — this recorder does not power cameras the way a PoE NVR does
- An HDMI or VGA monitor to view the local menu and live/recorded footage
Frequently asked questions
Can I mix HDCVI, AHD, TVI, CVBS and IP cameras on the same recorder?
Yes. The XVR5832S-4KL-I3 is a Penta-brid recorder, so each of the 32 analogue channels auto-detects HDCVI, AHD, TVI or CVBS signals, and you can add IP cameras on top for a mixed system.
Is there a monthly fee to record and view footage?
No. Once the recorder is set up with a hard drive it records locally with no subscription required; remote viewing via the Dahua app is also free.
Can I add IP cameras later?
Yes. Alongside the 32 analogue channels, this model supports up to 64 additional IP channels at up to 12MP, so IP cameras can be added later without replacing the recorder.
Does the recorder power the cameras?
No. Unlike a PoE NVR, this DVR does not supply power over the cable — each analogue camera needs its own 12V power supply run alongside the RG59 coax.
