Dahua AirShield Wireless Alarm: Easier Installation, Cloud Updates and CCTV Links

AirShield is Dahua's wireless intruder alarm system: a hub, PIR and door detectors, sirens, keyfobs and repeaters that talk to each other over two-way radio, with set-up and remote management through Dahua's apps and cloud. A May 2025 upgrade focused on easier installation, cloud firmware updates and links with CCTV and video intercoms. Here's how Dahua's wireless alarms have developed since 2021, what AirShield does and why linking an alarm to cameras is worth it.

Dahua's first wireless alarm system (2021)

Dahua launched a full wireless alarm line in November 2021: an alarm hub, PIR detectors, door contacts, keyfobs, a repeater, an input expander and indoor and outdoor sirens. Key points were:

  • Up to 150 wireless devices per hub on 433MHz or 868MHz.
  • Connection by Ethernet, dual-band Wi-Fi and GPRS/3G/4G, so the alarm keeps reporting if one path fails.
  • Two-way radio with frequency hopping to resist interference.
  • Certification to EN 50131 Grade 2, the European standard commonly used for homes and small businesses.
  • SIA DC-09 reporting to alarm receiving centres, plus links to Dahua NVRs, XVRs and indoor monitors.

What AirShield adds (May 2025)

  • Quicker installation: snap-fit backplates and built-in batteries, so there's no cable to run.
  • Easier set-up: configure devices from a phone, add them in batches and import a backup to clone a system.
  • More ways to arm: SMS, the DMSS app, a keyfob, an Android video intercom monitor, an NVR or a dry contact.
  • Cross-system links: AirShield can work with Dahua CCTV and video door entry over the local network, for example to show camera footage when an alarm triggers.
  • Remote maintenance: panels and detectors can be updated from the cloud, and a Health Diagnosis feature flags faults.
  • Monitoring centres can manage systems through DoLynk Care with SIA protocol support. See our DoLynk Cloud article.

Why connect your alarm to your cameras?

An alarm tells you that something happened; a camera shows you what. Linking the two means a PIR trigger can bring up the right camera, start recording and send you a clip, so you can tell a burglar from a cat before calling anyone out. Fewer false call-outs also matter if your alarm is monitored.

Our take

Wireless alarms have shed their reputation for flaky signals and constant battery changes. Two-way radio, multiple communication paths and cloud diagnostics make AirShield a practical option for homes and small businesses, especially if you already use Dahua cameras and want a single app.
