Dahua Small Business Solutions: Fire Lanes, Speeding, Loss Prevention and More

Between 2022 and 2024 Dahua repackaged much of its technology into ready-made solutions for small and medium-sized businesses. These include plug-and-play IP systems, AI intrusion detection with AcuPick search, fire-lane and speeding detection, early fire warning, retail loss prevention, office visitor management and elevator control, plus a free online tool for designing systems. Here's what each solution does and the business problem it solves.

Simpler entry-level IP systems (April 2022)

  • Plug and play: cameras connected to an NVR's built-in PoE ports set themselves up automatically, and the NVR detects cameras on an external PoE switch.
  • PoE and Wi-Fi options to reduce cabling.
  • The DMSS app can find, initialise and add devices; the COS Pro installer app handles channel management, cloud upgrades and remote fault checks.
  • Password recovery via keychain binding in DMSS, handy when a recorder password has been forgotten.

Five AI solutions (October 2024)

  • Control centre: DSS software, display walls and NVR or EVS storage to manage several subsystems from one room.
  • Fire-lane parking detection: AI watches emergency routes around the clock and alerts staff when a vehicle blocks one.
  • Over-speed detection: measures vehicle speed in business parks and campuses, shows it on a display and plays an audio warning.
  • Precautionary fire prevention: thermal temperature monitoring to catch hot spots early in warehouses. See our thermal and fire detection article.
  • EAS loss prevention: links shop security tags with cameras at the exits, cutting false alarms and making incidents easier to review.

Six more solutions (December 2024)

  • Elevator control: restricts lift access to particular floors by credential and schedule, with an audit trail.
  • AI surveillance: intrusion detection without blind spots, plus AcuPick search.
  • Meeting rooms: an interactive whiteboard, camera, microphones and speakers with collaboration software. See our DeepHub article.
  • In-store advertising with AI visitor analytics to measure footfall.
  • Office management: security, attendance and visitor management.
  • Villa interconnection: joins video, intercom and alarm (even from different makers) so the owner can arm, view and get alerts from a phone or tablet.

Free system design tool (May 2024)

Dahua's web-based Project Design Tool helps installers choose cameras, simulate the scene (including walls that create blind spots) and export device lists, installation reports and system plans, with no software to install.

Our take

The interesting shift here is from selling cameras to solving specific problems: a blocked fire lane, speeding vans in a yard, a lost recorder password. For small businesses, framing CCTV around the problem makes it much easier to see what's worth paying for.
