Dahua Xinghan AI Models: From SMD to Natural-Language Video Search

Xinghan is Dahua's family of large-scale AI models, announced in September 2025. It has language (L), vision (V) and multimodal (M) series, and powers features such as WizSeek natural-language video search, text-defined alarms and perimeter detection of targets as small as 20 × 20 pixels. It's the latest step in a run of AI upgrades, from SMD 3.0 in 2021 through AcuPick search in 2023. Here's how Dahua's AI has developed and what it means for everyday CCTV.

Step by step: Dahua's AI since 2021

  • 2021, SMD 3.0: Smart Motion Detection that separates people and vehicles from other movement. Dahua quoted 99% accuracy for humans and vehicles at up to 25m on a 2.8mm camera, alongside face recognition and AI Coding to cut bandwidth.
  • 2022, SMD 4.0 and Quick Pick: Dahua says SMD 4.0 cut false alarms from large animals from 5% to 2%, and from cats and dogs from 1% to 0.5%. Quick Pick searches by clothing and vehicle colour. AI Scene Self-Adaption adjusts the image for rain, fog and backlight.
  • 2022, WizMind upgrades: PPE detection (hard hats, vests and masks), parking-space monitoring and illegal-parking detection with loudspeaker warnings.
  • 2023, WizMind S and AcuPick: WizMind S added video metadata for up to 100 targets at once, sound detection for screams and breaking glass, and perimeter protection that Dahua rates at up to 99% accuracy. AcuPick combines camera and recorder AI: select a person or vehicle and the system finds them across your recordings without an expensive server.

What large-scale AI models change

Older analytics were narrow programs trained for one job each. Large-scale models are trained on far more data and learn more general understanding, so they cope better with unusual scenes, and multimodal models can connect pictures with words.

The Xinghan series

V-series: vision

  • Perimeter protection detecting targets as small as 20 × 20 pixels, with fewer false alarms.
  • WizTracking, which Dahua says tracks 50% more accurately when targets are partly hidden.
  • Crowd Map with twice the detection range, 80% better accuracy in rain and analysis of up to 5,000 people.
  • AI WDR that sets up the camera according to the scene.
  • AI Rule Assist: one click to draw perimeter rules, based on automatic scene recognition.

M-series: multimodal

  • WizSeek: search video by describing what you're looking for in plain language.
  • Text-Defined Alarms: create a custom alarm rule by typing it, with no coding.

L-series: language

Natural-language understanding and interaction, the foundation for the text and voice features above.

What it means for you

  • Fewer false alarms, especially at long range and in bad weather.
  • Faster investigations: describe what happened and let the system find it.
  • Easier set-up, with rules drawn and tuned automatically.

Our take

Dahua's AI story has moved from "is that a person?" to "show me the white van that stopped by the gate after 10pm". Xinghan is the foundation for that shift. As with any new AI feature, it will reach products gradually, so focus on what a specific camera and recorder support today.
