Dahua EACH 2-Wire Hybrid Video Intercom: HD Door Entry Without Rewiring

Dahua's EACH series is a 2-wire hybrid video intercom that upgrades old door entry systems to 2MP HD video over the existing pair of wires, with Wi-Fi monitors, phone answering through the DMSS app and links to CCTV cameras and alarm detectors. Dahua launched the villa kit in January 2023 and extended it to apartments in September 2024. Here's how 2-wire hybrid works, what the EACH range offers, and how Dahua's Bluetooth Insider access control fits alongside it.

The problem with upgrading old intercoms

Most older door entry systems, especially in blocks of flats, run on two wires. Upgrading to IP video usually means pulling new network cable to every flat, which is disruptive and expensive. The result is that many buildings keep grainy analogue intercoms long after the technology has moved on.

What 2-wire hybrid means

A 2-wire hybrid system carries power, video, audio and data over two wires, but behaves like an IP system: HD video, app access and links to other devices. Dahua's EACH name stands for Extensibility, Accessibility, Convenience and HD.

EACH villa kit (January 2023)

  • 2MP wide dynamic range door camera.
  • Cable runs of up to 200m, which Dahua compares with 100m for a typical IP system.
  • Plug and play with no network configuration, supplied as a door station, indoor monitor and 2-wire controller in one box.
  • Connect HDCVI cameras to view around the property, and wired alarm detectors for alerts.
  • Answer the door and unlock it remotely in the DMSS app.

EACH for apartments and villas (September 2024)

  • Modular door stations with a 2MP WDR camera, sized for anything from a house to a block.
  • Indoor monitors with or without Wi-Fi.
  • Support for HDCVI and IP cameras.
  • Group calling, so every monitor in a home rings at once.
  • DIP switch addressing for quick set-up, and batch configuration through a web-based controller.
  • Alarm inputs with real-time alerts, and arming and disarming from the app.

Touchless access with the Insider series (April 2023)

For offices, schools, galleries and factories, Dahua's Insider access control turns a phone into a key over Bluetooth via the DMSS app. There are three read ranges (0–20cm, 1–2m and 2–10m) and a "shake to open" mode. A system supports 1 main and 19 sub-controllers, up to 1,000 users and 40 doors, with web-based management and PoE-powered locks and readers to save cabling.

Our take

2-wire hybrid is the practical answer for buildings that need better door entry but can't face rewiring. EACH brings HD video, app answering and CCTV links over the existing wires, which is often the difference between an upgrade happening or not.
