Hikvision Guanlan AI Models Explained: The Brain Behind DeepinViewX and AcuSeek

Guanlan is Hikvision's family of large-scale AI models, launched in April 2025, and it's the "brain" behind many of Hikvision's newest products, including DeepinViewX cameras, AcuSeek text search, Guanlan Encoding and the latest traffic cameras. If you've seen "Guanlan" on a datasheet and wondered what it means, this guide explains it in plain English and shows where it makes a difference to everyday CCTV.

What is a large-scale AI model?

Older CCTV analytics were small, single-purpose programs: one to spot a person, another to read a number plate. They worked, but were easily fooled by shadows, rain or unusual angles. Large-scale AI models are trained on vast amounts of data and learn general understanding, much like the AI behind modern chatbots. They can understand a whole scene, cope with conditions they haven't seen before, and even link images with words.

How Guanlan is built

The name comes from a Chinese idea about understanding water by watching its waves: seeing the patterns beneath the surface. Hikvision describes a three-tier architecture:

  • Foundation models: large vision, language and multimodal models.
  • Industry models: tuned with specialist knowledge, for example traffic.
  • Task models: focused on specific jobs on specific devices.

It supports multimodal perception (combining images, text and more) and can run in different places, on the camera, the recorder or a server.

Where you'll find Guanlan, and what it does

  • DeepinViewX cameras: Hikvision quotes over 99% fewer perimeter false alarms, half the repeated alarms and double the detection range compared with conventional cameras. See our DeepinViewX article.
  • AcuSeek NVRs, Hik-Connect 6 and HikCentral: search footage by typing or speaking, for example "white van" or "person in a red top". See our AcuSeek guide.
  • Guanlan Encoding: AI-driven video compression that Hikvision says cuts storage by 30–50%. See our Guanlan Encoding article.
  • Traffic cameras and servers: 75% fewer false seatbelt and phone-use alarms. See our traffic AI article.
  • Coming to more products: Hikvision named HeatPro thermal cameras and intelligent checkpoint cameras as next in line.

Why it matters for you

  • Fewer false alarms, so alerts are worth checking and monitoring costs fall.
  • Faster investigations, finding footage in seconds with plain-English search.
  • Lower storage costs with smarter compression.
  • Better results in difficult conditions such as rain, night, clutter and backlight.

Our take

Guanlan is the reason Hikvision's 2025–26 products feel like a step change rather than an upgrade. Large AI models fix the long-standing weaknesses of CCTV analytics, namely false alarms and slow searching. You don't need to understand the AI to benefit; you just need to pick products that use it.
