Areas matter more than the zone count for most buyers: they let parts of a building be armed independently — house armed while the garage stays off, or a shop floor secured while the stockroom is still in use. Unless you have a genuinely large or commercial site, the 64-zone panel's 16 areas is usually ample. Choose the hybrid panel only if you already have wired detectors and cabling worth keeping — it costs more, has no built-in tag reader, and needs a battery bought separately.
PIRCAMs explained
A PIRCAM is a motion detector with a built-in camera. When it triggers, the panel captures a photo or short clip alongside the alarm signal — so instead of just knowing a zone tripped, you (or a monitoring centre) can see what caused it before deciding to act. All three panels above take up to 48 PIRCAMs, regardless of total zone count, and each panel stores 4 video clips on board.
Connectivity & monitoring
Every AX PRO panel has three or four signalling paths — wired ethernet, Wi-Fi, and mobile data (GPRS on the 64-zone panel, 3G/4G dual-SIM on the 96-zone and hybrid panels) — so cutting the broadband doesn't take the alarm offline. Devices talk to the panel over 868MHz, the band reserved for alarms in the UK, with AES-128 encryption and frequency hopping.
AX PRO can run self-monitored: you get app alerts via Hik-Connect and decide what to do. It also supports professional monitoring — the panel reports over SIA DC09 and Contact ID to an Alarm Receiving Centre, including video verification from PIRCAMs. Monitoring itself is a separate service contracted with a monitoring company; we supply and can advise on the equipment, not the monitoring contract.
Kit or build your own?
